Stainmore and Belah Excursion 27 August

During the 'Grand Re-Opening Day' on Saturday 27 August two coaches will be departing Kirkby Stephen East at 13:00 to make a trip to Stainmore Summit and also to the site of Belah Signal Box. The former box is on private property and so this is a rare opportunity.
signIf the Stainmore Railway Company has been able to raise the £5000 necessary to finish manufacturing and erect a replica of the famous 'Stainmore Summit' sign at the original site at the summit it will be unveiled by Mr. Steve Davies MBE, Director of the National Railway Museum. But we need to raise £5,000 in total for this project. If you haven't already contributed to the appeal any donation would be very welcome and anyone generous enough to donate £10 or over will receive a special 'Stainmore 150' commemorative certificate acknowledging their valuable contribution to the re-birth of our railway over August Bank Holiday this year. Please make cheques payable to 'Stainmore Railway Company' and send them to: Stainmore Sign Appeal

After visiting Stainmore Summit the coaches will continue to make visit the south (west) abutment of Belah Viaduct and the former signal box. Steve Davies is planning to bring with him the original Belah signal box sign to display temporarily on the building for the benefit of photographers
HOWEVER IT WILL ONLY BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE THIS TRIP IF YOU HAVE A PLACE ON ONE OF THE TWO OFFICIAL COACHES BECAUSE WE ONLY HAVE SPECIAL PERMISSION FOR TWO BUSES TO ENTER ONTO PRIVATE LAND.
So If you want to go on this additional excursion on 27th August it is ESSENTIAL that you book a place on the coaches beforehand because we expect that demand for places will be high and that demand will considerably exceed supply. To allocate places fairly we have decided to organise a draw which will take place on Sunday 10th July. Successful applicants will then receive a letter shortly afterwards requesting a deposit of £10 plus a non-refundable administrative charge of £2 which must be received back by Monday 1st August. As soon as we receive deposits receipts and tickets will be mailed out to successful applicants. Deposits are refundable on the day at Kirkby Stephen East and unclaimed places when the buses depart will be allocated to people next on the draw list.
To enter into this draw for these 'Stainmore and Belah' Coach tickets please complete the form below. Winners will hear from us by post after 10th July and a list of winners will be published on the page for confirmation
